Heres a weird one I need some help with, I have had this car 10 years and have had this problem 6 months. Have been to two separate Ford dealers and they have been unable to fix.
On a hot day if the car is left in direct sunlight and interior gets hot the car will not start, The only way it will start is if the doors or windows are open and cabin cools down. I shit you not, but this is all you have to do to get it to start. When it wont start there is just nothing, not even cranking, something makes a whirring noise under dash but will not crank. Cool interior down and it starts instantly. I am not taking the piss here sounds like bullshit but is true, no one has been able to offer a logical explanation to date. Has a aftermarket immobiliser / alarm fitted by Ford dealer. only mod to it.
Try banging on the dash, while holding the key in the start position (dont laugh, just try it) It's a common fault with the body control module, if that works, then it need some joints resoldered on the PCB.
Other than that, it may be a problem with either:
I agree with 9psi, it is most likely your aftermarket alarm.
You really need diagram for it and the car, so you can bypass it. If you manage to mypass it and the problem vanishes, then you know whats at fault.. if it remains, grab more VB and keep looking
Just because the alarm is dealer fitted, does not mean it is factory type..

Will the car run without the alarm ?
disconnect it and see if the Bem is still being difficult , some of the after market alarms tend to fall over about 45 C
O.K. The aftermarket alarm has made like saddam and is f------n out a here, the local sparky has removed it entirely and now I need a hot day to see the results. will keep you all posted, thanks for your inputs any further comments appreciated, Regards Sam
