EF cold idle problem

I have a problem with a 1995 6 cyl EF (140000km) when cold. It starts then stalls due to insufficient revs. at idle. When I start it by holding accelerator down a bit it is ok, but stalls when you try to drive off or let it idle. By revving it at about 2000 rpm for about 30 secs it is then ok (or at least it runs, albeit roughly) If you stop the car for about 30 mins, then restart it, then this problem repets itself. The only difference being that it takes longer to idle normally when it is stone cold.
I have checked the base idle setting which is 100% ok. The car has had new leads & plugs, new air cleaner & fuel filter fitted.
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: EF cold idle problem

Hi,
Mine did something similar although a little different(it had no guts when I put me foot down) not to long ago and it was the injectors. I aint no mechanic but possibly worth a try. Had mine flushed/cleaned and all good now. Also years ago it ran rough when motor was cold and it was a cracked head.

Re: EF cold idle problem

Thanks for your feedback. I have had the injectors cleaned. The car has normal power when driving even when cold. The problem I have only relates idling (or lack of!) when cold. Cheers, Ron

Re: EF cold idle problem

I would say its your throttle body. Wip it off and get an air compressor in there. Mine was doing the same thing and it feels like crap driving like it.
