Hi Guys,

A mate of mine says if I ever had a question about my ford then this was the first place to ask. Now down the issue...

I've got a '94 EF Futura (sapphire).

I was driving up the westgate bridge during peak hour this morning when the power on the car shorted out. The stereo, clock, indicators, hazards & dash lights all flickered and the accelarator did not work at all (Breaking was fine). After what felt like ages, the car just kicked back in and I made it over to stop at the service station.

I've since drivin' back to geelong without issues. In the 15 months i've had the car this is only about the 3rd-4th time is had happened, and this time was by far the worst.

If anyone could shed some light on what I might do to fix this problem that would be appreciated :)

welcome. they did have a fault where the back of the igniton switch comes loose and the contact plate "loose's" electrical contact. if you pull off the lower column shroud have a peek at the back of the switch. you'll see the back of the contact plate. this should be tight in back of switch. if not, gently apply some tension to the 3 (i think) bent over tabs, careful but as there cheap shitty cast they can break off really easy. common fault and easiest place to start,good luck..
