I have a 95 EF II Falcon sedan. A whining sound has started coming from the rear of the car and I am sure that it is the fuel pump because it happens when my wife is not even in the car. I noticed a similar thread on this forum but for a different model. Can someone tell me if this is the beginning of the end for that pump ? If so, will a pump for an EB fit, because I can get a cheap new one for an EB. Otherwise, any ideas on the most cost effective pump to buy? Also, the manual tells me that I should release the fuel pressure first by disconnecting the pump relay which is underneath the radiator overflow tank. This is difficult. Is it necessary ? Thanks

If the pump is getting noisy then it is probably on its way out. And yes any pump from an EB-EL (not sure abotu AU) will fit, most aftermarket brands only have the 1 for all e-series I6 and V8's. You don't need to release the fuel pressure (I never do) but when you disconnect the lines you will get a sqirt of fuel, nothing major though.
