Hey guy's..

Can anyone tell me whether a manual ECU will plug straight into where my Auto ECU currently plugs in. If not what do i need to do to get the manual to plug in and everything work with my manual conversion, cheers.

Theres some prick mechanics out there, they all tell me i will need to change the wiring harnesses completely over. screw them off.

They are kind of right. The ECU will plug in but to get everything working you unplug the auto part of the loom, plug in the manual loom and swap a few pins over.

Do you mean on the auto box you unplug the wires, then change a few things so it will plug into everything on the manual box?

Sort of. If you already have the manual gearbox in and working with the auto ecu then you can swap ecu's as much as you like. Its when the 5 speed conversion gets done that the looms are swapped.

This is the auto loom



These two plugs connect to the loom at the back of the engine



The manual loom is much simpler and only uses the one rectangular connector



so the round plug (that connects to the solenoids in the auto box) dont get used



If you plug the loom in as is, it will work but you will be able to start the car in gear. If you swap two pins over (cant remember which ones) the ecu wont engage the starter motor unless the gearbox is out of gear.

Nah its different. EL's and AU's combined the engine and gearbox looms so you either need to swap it all over or stuff around joining the looms up.
