Howzit goin fellas and ladies. I am looking at putting an EL cam in the good old EA motor. I don't plan to change injectors or computers or anything, I just want to change the cam. Is there any significance in this? If so, i'll carry on doing it. Info on this would be good as I have read a fair bit about it, but not sure if I can just swap the cam and thats it. Will it increase my power slightly or not? Cheers,

Make sure you get a cam out of an older EL, I was going to do the same thing to my EA, but the wreckers gave me a cam out of a 98 EL which had the hybrid AU motor, it rattled like a freight train an lost a HEAP of power. Of course I didn't notice it was an AU cam till after I put it in!

Yep a bit, like he said it was mainly a hill thing - that's where you noticed the torque.

Of course it was an auto at that point so it had no performance anyway :}

just put an ef cam into my ea today, went good didnt have to change any rocker gear either damo. which was good. didnt notice much difference in power or torque, might go through the hills or something when its running right to see if there is any benefits.

Give it a week or so before you will notice the difference - the ecu will need to relearn its fuelling map.

i think an EL cam is the next on my list as my EL ECU is running an EA cam and an 8.8:1 comp EA engine, the least i can do is fit an EL cam.
