Thought I would pass this one on.
Chrome shifter button on your leather handle flies out so you go to the wreckers. They are a scarce as hens teeth. Phone your Ford parts dealer, $460, WHOA! They dont sell the button seperate and you cant see how to remove it anyway. What next?
Get yourself the Failane shifter, $104 retail, 86 trade. It has a chrome button but is vinyl. At the front of the shifter you will find a little cover, prise it out to reveal a screw. Remove screw and the button assy slides out. Now, take your leather handle and taking measurements from the vinyl one, mark where the screw is. Take a sharp craft knife and cut a small hole to reveal the cover. Prise it out, remove the screw and inards. Replace with the new button and after you have tightend the screw jam the cover into the hole. Once installed you will not see the small cut. Best of all, you still have a leather handle and you saved 350 notes!
