EL XR6 using resistors to trick ecu - Ford Forums

Hi, i have an EL XR6 12/96 5 speed.

i was wondering if anyony has or knows how to trick some of the sencers with a resistor there for making things run a bit better ( poor man's chip lol ).

ive had a bit of work done at jim mock dev1 and the race spec botem end, 140 rw/kw. untill i can afford a cam and some head work, im tring a few cheap mods.

You've shelled out big coin on a race spec bottom end, yet don't have a cam yet?

Sorry, not having a dig mate!

Anyhoo, there are plenty of cheap cams (regrinds or other) to be had, and you can fit yourself without much difficulty, due to OHC. Try Fordmods, the Aussie FF, or www.eseries.com.au for info on E-series I6 cams.

Also, Trick XD (on ff.au) might still be doing his headwork offer, $170 for exhaust port porting

PS avoid poor man's chips like the plague, whether you make it yourself or buy one off ebay. The only resistor mod which works is for firming up the way a BTR auto shifts. The circuit diagrams can be found at www.mechanicalforums.com, but then again, if you've got a manual, there'll be no need for this lol
