My brother is looking at a panelvan.
1994 model I6 with 5speed manual.
done 300,000kms + but he only wants 4k for it.
Its in really good condition though.

Is that a reasonable price?

$4k sounds reasonable for an XG with that amount of milage. When I say reasonable, I mean good value for the buyer, but the seller at the same time isn't ripping himself off

Just make sure your brother looks for all the E-Series faults that might crop up (head gasket, etc).

ouch 300,000.

A car like this will be due to have everything replace, sure the first thing the owner will say it that he's reco'd the engine but remember the whole car has see 300,000 of wear.

Well i had a look at it. The motor idles fine, no rattles, its not leaking anywhere, temp is good, got heaps of balls(suprised me, smokes 2nd quite easy), clutch is fine, gears dont crunch, starts straight away and the head was only just done.

So i reckon she will last for a bit.

We ended up buying it for 3.5k.

Only thing i can think of which might be an issue later is the cooling system and dizzy.
And they arent expensive to replace.

My brother is happy tho.

awesome! Sounds like you got an excellent deal then!

Also, he should watch the diff. 300,000kms is a lot of haulage for the BW diffs to handle... So he might not want to be smoking 2nd too often.
