Just wondering how much fuel other ppls 4.0's use cos i swear mine is chewing too much juice. I used to do about a 50km round trip to work every day on pretty open roads, by my calculations i was going through bout 10 lts a day. I do have a bit of a heavy foot sometimes but i still just doesnt seem right to me.

my car is as modified:
extractors
2.5 inch exhaust
xr6 cyclinder head conversion
$1000 port n polish
stage 2 crow cam
5 spd man conversion
cold air intake into standard air box
adjustable billet cam gear
=134rwkw.. from a 95 EF Fairmont..
fuel consumption usualy hovers around
11-12 litres per 100 km on average..
and i i give it curry sometimes!

10L/50km? That's (mathematical genius here) 20L/100km! Something is definitely not right, your ED is running waaaaaay rich...

I'm such a great help, I can say "yes, you have a problem there" but I can't offer an answer

Spark plugs, leads, head gasket, oxy sensor, air filter, timing, general tune, injectors, umm, any of these things could be the culprit (or culprits).

Maybe finding a deserted road & giving it a bootfull to blow out the cobwebs might help. I was averaging 400-450km per tank (although mine's a 5.0) until I gave the car absolute shit one day, and after that I miraculously gained over 100km per tank after that! I now do over 500km per tank around town/country driving, and 600km per tank freeway driving.

Cheers yeah i was pretty sure there was something not right. Its due for a service which i was gonna do myself but i reckon i might take it somwhere and see whats goin on. The thing is though it doesnt blow smoke or run rough must be fuel faries or something!!!
