i have an EL Fairmont and i want to know if it is common for the car to make like a thud noise and a sort of jerk when you are doin 100k's in 2nd gear and then you stop accelerating and the auto transmission naturally wants to go back into 4th gear?

Yes that's normal. The auto suddenly realises "oh! The driver has stopped driving hard! I'd best change to 4th ASAP". The big ratio (and revs!) change between 2nd & 4th (1.45:1 to 0.68:1) gives the clunk.

FPV, That's what you're GT's for - 100 k's per hr in 2nd gear. lol

Mine does it too - even at 50-60 kph. Lift off throttle and it changes up 2 gears almost at once. Doesn't do it all the time. It does change hard when it does it though.

I've been told to lock it into 3rd around town anyway to stop it shifting into overdrive because it's no good for tranny. Only tried it for couple of days now, we'll see if the hard changes go away.
