lots
check ignition
fuel
get back to us
(also let us know if the radiator fans spin when turning igniotion as thats often a failed power relay)

Re: not startin

Is the car still not running from when the MAP sensor hose was off??

Open the boot and get someone to turn the ignition on and listen for the pump as already suggested. If the pump is working, start it on aerostart or similar (there is a good reason for this). If it starts, hold the revs at about 1500 for ten seconds or so, and slowly bring back to idle. Let the car idle for about a minute before you turn it off. It should now start no probs.

Re: not startin

G'day,
common prob on E -series. Pull a plug lead and whack in a spare plug......check for spark.
If you have spark then issue is fuel. In a quiet environment, having been not started for a while, when you switch on the ignition, you should be able to hear the fuel pump run for 1-3 seconds as it pressurises (has been suggested)
If you have spark but no fuel the most likely problem is the fuel pump relay.
This is the green sucker located in the engine bay near the battery (to define a specific location is hard as different model put it in a SLIGHTLY different postion)

This relay isn't cheap. To confirm it you need a test light and second person.
Open your boot (trunk) and lift the floor mat. You will find a cover secured with about 8 self tapper screws on the LH side. Remove the cover, this will expose the sender/sender/pump unit. There are two seperate cables here...one is the pump motor, the other is the fuel gauge sender. The pump is the heavier of the wiring.

Pull the pump wires and check with test light (cannot recall which colour...don;t have an e-series or the book handy)

Check both wires.

Set up the lead light and get your helper to switch on the ignition.....you should get a breif power on the test light....if don't then 99% its the fule pump relay.

Cheers
Jas

heck i know how to check this, but damm hard to explain..esp after a few $2 Crownies
