hi all can anybody help me

bought a second hand ea recently and have had problems asap first it was starting problems after i had driven it for a while then wanted to start it agaian 1-3 hours later this got progressivelly worse. Then it started stalling and would take up to 2 hours to restart. i paid a mechanic 150 bux to change a lead and plug (thats the last time he will see me coming) problems continued to get worse two weeks ago i changed the coil and seemed good for a week then noticed it took too starts to turn then last night it took 15 mins to start after i hr driving and a 30 min stop. later that night it stalled at lights took an hour to start. then 20 mins later it cut out at around 90kms on the freeway it did this 3 times( cutting n running) over 1 km before dying completely and taking 1.5hrs to start. I know little about cars, have minimal cash funds but need my car urgently to be somewhat reliable. Can anyone give me a definitive answer on what to do and what tis will cost me,or can anyone recommend someone in sydney to take it to?

Get hold of a multimeter and check the TFI module that plugs into the distributor per FORD TFI TROUBLE

While this is a North American site the reading are the same for your EA's TFI module. After market Bisch TFI cost about $90 from Veales etc if this proves to be the problem.

I agree the TFI module is the go I had the same problem .
Get a after market one at Bursons $45 and you can fit it on the car if its a throttle body EA.Make sure you use the clear heat sink paste that comes with it.I have had no further problems.If you have to take the distributor off getting it back is trickey because of the screw cut distributor drive.Mark the position of the rotor and body before you remove anything.
