Problem with EL - Ford Forums

My girlfriend just recently bought herself an EL falcon i6 same year and everything as mine. Hers has done 190000km and mine has done 210000km. But i was shocked when i drove hers as it absolutely hammers compared to mine. I always thought there was something wrong with my car, now i know. Does anyone know why my car is so slow compared to hers. They're both stock except for mine having an exhaust system. They're both autos and mine is always serviced by me.

Any ideas??

is your gearbox in good condition???

what sort of exhaust do you have... i initially was thinking if there is any restriction in it...

has her's got an lsd diff?cos lsd diff came with 3.23 ratio and open wheeler were a 3.08 diff

I'm not sure if my gearbox is in good condition, I havent had any problems with it. Is there any signs i should look for? My car has a Redback 2.5 inch exhaust cat back.

I don't think that her's has LSD but then again I haven't checked. It looks completely stock to me.

But i know my car is a slow EL because I've been beaten by way too many commodores recently and I used to cream them 2 years ago in my other EL falcon same year and condition.

I've tried solving the problem one thing at a time ie. general service, changing filters and fluids, throttle valve calibration and just checking general running order of most things. But i can't find a problem anywhere and its really got me stumped.

it really sounds like a diff ratio problem.

Get yourself some low ratio diff gears.
example:3.45
