hey guys, i have a fairly high km, 1990 manual EA falcon which just had a new cylinder head put in it since the gasket went on the old one...

Anyway it hadnt been driven for a couple of months and now 'kangaroo hops' forward unless u ride the clutch and put the accelerator on really really lightly!

Has anyone else had any problems like this?? i'll stick a tin of injector cleaner in it to see if it fixes it but i doubt it will help.

any thoughts would be a appreciated greatly

maybe your clutch cable needs adjusting ?

i dont think that riding the clutch for longer is the answer although it does help... the car has hardly any power in third gear at any speeds lower than 55 km/h but after that it has a fair bit, if you push the accelerator hard at low revvs it 'kangaroo hops' and coughs and splutters untill you take the pressure off to about 1/5... strange problem and i would really love to be able to fix it.

Sounds like a stupid mistake I made

Have a look on the intake manifold maybe there was a cfi gasket put on

The car doesn't work well at low speeds but once it's accelerating it's fine

not the gasket, but heres another thought, the car doesnt want to loose revvs... when changing from second to third i have to wait a sec for the car to slow its revvs otherwise it crunches.... the car idles okay but if i revv it then it takes a sec or two to slow down again and go back to idle speed... has anyone fixed such a problem??

im so sick of these niggling problems!!!

Hmmm, interesting, have u checked all the cables. Other then that, sounds like your clutch is on its way out.

I usually have a fair idea with clutch problems but this one has me by the balls, sorry!

I'd be checking fuel pressure and fuelling related issues. I had the exact same problem when I was running a CFI fuel pump after converting to MPI. Maybe your fuel pump has died in the arse??
