Rev limiter for EA?

hey, is it possible to get a REV limiter for a 5-speed EA, few times when doing *cough burnouts *cough and like when your accelerating hard and miss the gear ive put it in the red section a few times, once all the way past the red section.

anyways did ea's come with rev limitors? like was mine taken out? or is it possible to get an after market one? for efi cars?

thanx

Re: Rev limiter for EA?

Best bet is to call around a few places that install chips and such.

Re: Rev limiter for EA?

They might be able to piggy back it or simply reprogram it, not sure though.

Re: Rev limiter for EA?

I didn't have one before I got the Chip Torque chip, but now it is about 5500rpm, I looked at getting it change to 6000rpm but they want $100 and for me to sign a piece of paper saying that they can not be liable...................if anything went bang!

Re: Rev limiter for EA?

there'd probably be some way to rig up an electronic device that reads the tacho signal and using a relay cuts the injector power if rpm exceeds a certain amount...

that way as soon as it dropped the injectors would kick back in (shouldnt take long)

would this cause the engine to stall?

Re: Rev limiter for EA?

Not sure where you would get one over there but I mainly bought it to sentle down my idle problem with having the stage 3 cam. It gave me a bit more power and uses a bit more fuel but with it working with the cam ( sweet as).
