Re: Rev limiter for EA?

It shouldn't stall, that's how speed limiters in E series work IIRC. hit 180 and the ECU cuts power to the injectors.

Either way, once it gets down to 4500 or so and the injectors get power again the car will just crank over, right?

Re: Rev limiter for EA?

are you sure it doesn't have one already? when i have missed gears it has gone off the scale but when im accelerating in gear the rev limiter is right there at 5500rpm. an EA might be different to EB2 though, would probly be a good idea to test it out before you buy a chip

Re: Rev limiter for EA?

I would suspect a smaller amount of fuel is pumped in, based on throttle position, which would cause only a support amount of revs say 4,500, and therefor engine would loose power above 5,500 that and that gives a cut out feeling, without leaning the thing right out, and stopping the motor from turning over.

Re: Rev limiter for EA?

what format is the tacho output in, voltage varying depending on RPM or is it a pulse?

if its a voltage a circuit like I said probably wouldn't be all that difficult to make, and would be relatively cheap...

hehe and you could bounce off the limiter for effect :D

Re: Rev limiter for EA?

EA's dont have a rev or speed limiter, they will go until u blow it apart lol.
Err... maybe don't drive the car so hard that you NEED a limiter?! Prevention is always better than the cure

Re: Rev limiter for EA?

Hmmmm are you's sure EA's dont have rev limiters?

I have had mine free revving (in neutral, 5spd manual) and it was making noises like it had a rev limiter, tacho was off the scale tho but not bouncing. My mate has also had his EA wagon make rev limiter noises in 1st in the wet with the tacho bouncing at the end of the red, (originally a 4spd auto but converted to manual using a manual ECU). Both are CFI tho.

Anyone got any ideas as to what it was if they dont have a rev limiter?
