Smartlock, bcm problems
My BCM crapped itself and has been replaced.
The fault with the original BCM was with door locks, then turning interior lights on (very dim) even with doors closed and locked (flattened my battery twice overnight before I realised). It then it failed to start... a few times it worked by hitting the place where the BCM is located. Then one day... completely dead.
The new (second hand) BCM arrived. I have installed, programmed my smartlock and still no ignition. Fuses and relay are fine. Can hear the tick from fuse/relay box in car. Just no action from the starter.
I have managed to start the car.
A wire from the starter motor has been run up the side of car. I put turn the car on, then take this wire and place on + battery terminal to get the starter motor happening. Once it fires I tuck the wire off to the side.
The funny thing is, this does not work with the new BCM. Only the old one.
Any ideas???
Is the BCM programmed with the ECU? That is, does the ECU look for a particular BCM? That would explain the no go with the new BCM.
I wonder if there is a secondary fault???
What else would stop the car from turning over? Unless there is a problem with the tranny electrics.
I am sick of crappy plastic and electrics in cars. Need to get that 63 compact I always wanted...
