Re: Some E-Series Fairmont values (long)

buy one that has been owned by an enthusiest and all the mods have already been done for you... and as you all say it doesnt effect the price of the car by bugger all. mine had extractors, mags and lowered when i bought it. the engine bay was spotless. i looked at a few for $2000. this one cost me $2300.

the moral of the story? let someone else spend the money.

Re: Some E-Series Fairmont values (long)

bah! I'd rather mod my car then have a new one to be honest. I don't care about selling it because I don't plan to do that for a long time. I used to have a stock EL futura and I loved it but the only thing I miss now is the interior. My Eb is quicker and handles better and in my books nothing much else matters (oh and the stezza cranks now but not really a big point)
So I'll just keep stuffing with my Eb (and hopefully get the god awefull grey bumpers sprayed soon!!!)
That said I'm buying the missus a EF or EL fairmont next year so I can have the best of both worlds.

Modding your car makes you have a more personal attachment to it, knowing that that's where all your hard work and time has gone into it. Plus, IMO come selling time a slightly modified car may be more attractive to buyers and you may be able to sell it faster.

Re: Some E-Series Fairmont values (long)

Im in the same boat as Carazy as im not going to sell my car for quite some time (5yrs+) so i can justify spending money on it. My folks have an EL 'monty and sure in some aspects its a nicer car, yet my car is more unique, faster handels 10x better and i prefer driving it.

Re: Some E-Series Fairmont values (long)

This is the question i have been asking myself very much recently.
I am planning on getting a new car soon, because i have a cfi eb and the body isnt too flash, scratches and a few dints, i was originally gona do this one up... But then i got a new job, and after 3 months of saving i am planning on what i should do??? !!!

Here are my current ideas

Buy au falcon for about 12g
Buy vt commodore for about 15g
Buy a really good example ed and get:
mags, lowered, extractors/exhaust and other small mods etc etc and get away with it for about 10 grand hopefully...

these are my latest choices/ideas and ill be stuffed if i can decide! the thought of a new car like au/vt sounds so appealing yet, looking at some of your all done up fully SIK!! falcons are inspiring me to do the same!! aaaarr i cant decide!

Re: Some E-Series Fairmont values (long)

just keep the car till its almost worthless.
then don't bother trading it in, keep it as a project car :D
i can't see me selling my car for a hell of a long time!

i bought my V8 NC Ghia a year ago for 6k... and i love it to bits.

im getting it lowered this or next week, a twin system before the end of the year, TL50 front bar/grille, hopefully a stroker rebuild inside 6 months.

as you can tell, i dont plan on selling it for a long, long time.
