I'd love to keep my car for ages, but its justing getting old. Its awesome to drive and goes great, but I can't help but feel like I am out growing it. I need to get back to a manual, so an XR is going to be on the cards shortly.

I here that nothing beats a manual.
The best part is that if you ever start to get sick of changing gears you can go thrash your car and love your box again. With an auto all you have is an ever building angnst to get rid of it.

Re: Some E-Series Fairmont values (long)

I have no plans to sell my car yet. The car is not yet built to what I want and it'll be a few more grand before it is. I see my car as a hobby rather than an investment. I don't care if I never see the amount back that I put into it, I'm making the car for myself and to suit my taste...

I'm probably going to keep my ride for 12 more months, which is to the end of my first year of full time work, and look at my budget. I'd say I will buy an AUII/III XR6 HP/VCT at this stage.

re:

My car is getting on in years (1990 model), but I have no intention of upgrading it for a very long time for a few reasons:

1. It turns lots of heads
2. It handles like no other car for the price range
3. I love the sound of the engine behind me
4. It's very reliable, and not to bad on fuel
5. Targa top :)
6. fast enough for me to get in trouble
7. it's never beem in a major prang
8. I find it comfortable

But above all, I cannot wipe the smile off my face when I drive itand that's what it's all about.

When I finish my degree I hope to get a company car where ever I work so I can keep my baby for the weekends.
Plus I've had enough of spending $$$ on cars and I want to save up for a house or apartment now I have found my ideal set of wheels.

Re: Some E-Series Fairmont values (long)

I am in the same boat as Jack.

I have had my fun with my EB, hell I still am, but I dont see myself modding it anymore. I enjoy driving it but i see myself stepping up to something else. I have been looking at AUII/AUIII TE50's and when I am ready (10 months time or so) I hope to have the $$$ to buy one. The reason I am looking at the TE50 is it is an all in one package; performance, lux and most important a head turner.

I had thought about BA XR8's or even XR6t but following current trends they will be worth 1/2 what I paid for it after 18 months. Fair enought it is mine from day one, but if i pick up a 2002 model AU then i am still going to have 1 year (give or take depends if i can find a late model) worth of warranty (milk that; then mod it).

I love my cars and i know that every dollar i spend it two lost; thats just the way things work. But i don't care, its fun.

Ben
