NC 5 litre fairlane, has an intermittant issue..drive for 5-10 minutes spark says bye bye..leave it 20-30 minutes start it and will drive all day, but its very temperemental as to when it happens..new year eve drove for 5 minutes it died....after 20 minutes drove 120 k's..left it over night drove back following day no issues...sunday 5 minute drive and it died..waited it started...now today 5 minute drive and it stopped again..about to walk back and get it as it broke down close to home....what can it possibly be that the car just needs a little rest before it will go again ??

Checked the crankshaft / crank angle sensor ?

no CAS on the NC 5 litre, its distributor with module on the side, just changed the 2 relays under the battery as one of them may cause it to do it, so i will start with the cheapest option first, before i look at replacing dizzy or coil

okay update...after playing with a test light i have found that there is power going to the coil...the other wire is supposed to pulse as the engine cranks...this light stays lit constantly....does that say coil is shagged, or that dizzy is stuffed

It sounds like your TFI module is dead. I experienced the same symptoms and that was it. It's the small module on the side of the dizzy.
