Fordy I have looked into WA tuning scene many times and there is a difinite lack of experienced dyno tuning people in the West..............that said we are always investigating and looking for good tuning people...............I feel the bigger issue is to find tuners who not only have excellent tuning skill though who also understand good customer service.

Bottom line you can't get 20 years of tuning knowledge in 5 minutes.............this is the problem in WA.............no offence intended.

If you read my post thoroughly I stated that the challenge was to find experienced tuners who also understand good customer service............nothing more nothing less.

And this problem is not a Unichip problem only (it applies equally to all tuning/engine management products) it's a general problem within Australia.

The lack of genuine talent in the dyno tuning industry is becoming a huge problem.............once you leave the Victorian border excellent tuners are very difficult to find............though not impossible.

Some 9 months later the unichip in my Fairlane failed. I am in Qld so I contacted Herrods who didnt' want to know me. Would not return phone calls or emails over a 2 month period. Finally got them on the phone and they tell me that they no longer deal with unichip. Rob promised he would this time return my call. Surprise, surprise...nothing. I expected better. I didn't ask for a unichip, I asked Herrods for performance enhancement. Funny thing is, I was on the verge of purchasing a Herrod DJR Falcon. Well, not now. No Way.. Finally I booked my Fairlane into the Qld unichip dealer in Brisbane. 6 week wait to get in. My car has been with them a week and a half. Can not even get them to return my calls. I have been told that the unichip is in did stuffed and I will have to pay the Qld dealer $1500 for the fitting of the new unichip and take up the battle for a warranty claim with unichip. I am in search of a quality car technician in Queensland who provides some level of service and courtesy.
At least you got it sorted. Nothing worst than not being serviced and sent away!
I have a Chiptorque if ya wanna change!!

Re: Unichip after sales service

I dunno what to say here. I had problems with my Unichip fitted to an AU2 V8 and I approached Rob herrod a couple of times. I got the impression Rob didn't think it was that important but such impressions can be wrong. I had the privilege of actually overhearing Rob serve it up to APS in a nice and professional way saying his customer needed APS attention. All we got was promises APS would look into the issue but despite raising this in another thread Pete still chooses to ignore the fact no one ever rang back to address the issue.

At the end of the day tuners expect that if they install a Unichip and tune it properly their part of the process is looked after. But when other unexplainable effects on the vehicle occur they rely on tech help from the manufacturer of the product.

I personally don't hold APS highly for customer service but I know Rob better and certainly don't have any doubts Herrods bend over backwards if a customer has a problem. For that reason I'm holding back on the overall issue but remember that ultimately the manufacturer of a product holds most responsibility for the way it works, or doesn't work.
