Hey guys, on Saturday (7/05/05) im heading out country to check out an EB Series 2 Falcon. It has 6 months rego remaining, is a 5 speed manual (a must for me), which is very hard to find in the older falcons! its done 230,000, which i know is a lot, the headers have been done, the guy explained the paint to be a Goldy colour with a hint of Pink... not my preferred paint but will do. and all in all, sounds like a clean car. now im seeing this car in 2 days, i need any info you guys have come across in your ownership of these EB's that i should keep an eye out for while im there.... he's asking $4000... any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys
Check for;
a) Uneven front tyre wear (inside tread worn);though easy fixed with camber kit and or new steering rack mounts.
b) Unusual fluctuations in temp gauge indicates possible head gasket.
c) rust in sill panels behind rear doors and in front of fronr doors.
e) Cracks in dash.
f) Make sure air con blows cold air out of all vents (fixing broken blend doors is a big job).
thanks for that :) any other warnings anyone could give would be great! :)
ill be having a look for myself tomorrow, but also next weekend my uncle is coming up to have a look as well, and he's pretty switched on about these sort of things, so hopefully i dont go home with a ticking time bomb. thanks guys
Having clocked up those k's is not as much of a concern as a city car with that many.
Having said that, those aren't really high k's for a country car (i'm basing that on a 1992 model with avg 20,000kms/year) So you could find yourself a good buy here..
absolutely fantastic! the cleanest EB ive ever seen, and ive had the luck of finding it, being a Series 2 and a 5 speed manual :) im going back there in a week, having a second look with someone else, and then if all is good, ill be driving home with it. the roof has had a respray, tiny bit of overspray sort of on the seals.. but you cant tell, and only knew they were there cos he told me so. would have been weatherdamage that made them want to spray it. all in all, very clean car... as stock as it was coming off the production line. all in all, im a happy camper, thanks for your replies
hey i own a ford falcon eb series 2 station wagon and i believe u are getting it at a good price as th car is valued about $5000 and at least u have a paint job that is not like every other ford around. mine is the normel green colour you get on the fords but my car has pink strpes and a grey falcon and pink wipers so i customized it. also my car has done 230,000 k's and is going strong you just need to treat it right. i hope i helped u. just watch out for the rust in the bottom of the doors
yeah will do mate! and thanks cheeky, ill look out for that. from what i saw though there was not a trace of it... as soon as its homebound and in my loving arms, ill go crazy with a camera and show it to the world.
for 4k and with original klms you got a bargain
if its as clean n tidy as you say it is..
good luck with it all
cheers
