I'm hoping mine just needs repairs.. like.. that something is loose.. dunno though. There's -HEAPS- of free-play in the wheel that makes it pretty hairy to drive fast.. car sorta drifts left and right a bit.
Free play will be related to the rack unfortunately. For a V8 it cost me......wait for it......$1300 :whoaa: which included brand new rack, brand new p/s pump with teflon seals, fully fitted with 3yr parts and 12months labour warranty. Now the car is tight as with no freeplay, clunking or leaks.
But for a 6 Id assume it would be cheaper, there seems to be more stuff for the 6's. V8 stuff is harder to come by and noone had change over racks for them other than the 6's.
Oh shit, I hope my rack and/or pump hasn't gone It shudders like a bitch when I am moving slowly and turn (ie. parking).
blueoval I didn't have any tint on (unless you call the Ford tint anything?). Not sure what the Formula 1 tint is - was that top of the range? Like I said above earlier, there are three types: titanium $245, nickel $295 or some other that I didn't ask about was $365 or so.
Dont forget I have brand new stuff in my car. If your that hard up for cash, might I recommend going to a wrecker for a good 2nd hand unit. Should cost less than half I got charged. Only thing going this way is you wont really know how long it will last, and I hear its a bitch of a job(well on a 5ltr it was). Another thing is that its imperative to do a power steering flush every year I was told. So I would recommend you do a p/s flush before you fit another rack or the lifespan of the rack will be greatly reduced.

sikEA - i have given him all my specs for my car, what it is, and what mods it has, (inc cam specs) and also what is planned for it.
he will be doing a base guestimate tune in perth, and then sending it all to me.
a tweecer allows real-time tuning, so i will get a laptop (or borrow gm destroyas hehe) and then i can tune it as i drive (i mean, someone drives, someone else tunes)
have to wait till january for parts. damn.
oh yeah, the list is revised - am getting a AU motor and using bottom end and broard band manifold, and fitting my head to that, and selling off the rest, not waiting till it expires first.
Rollin - the AU manifold has the MAP sensor and air charge sensor in the same place, in the manifold under the throttle body. I suggest if you're sticking with the EA wiring, get an EF or EL manifold :fraz:
My mods - Meh I'm trying to save money to put a v8 in the panno still - wouldn't mind a 3.23 or 3.45 LSD and maybe a small supercharger....
map and air charge sensor in the same place? my map sensor tube is stuck into the intake manifold between 3 and 4 cylinders from memory...and it dont matter anyhow because you dont need a sh!tty MAP snesor when running a MAF setup same for air charge sensor.
yeah but in the AU manifold there is no tube.
The sensor is integral to the manifold. I was thinking mainly of the plugs being totally different, but of course you don't need the things anyway do you  I think I'll shut up about that now.....
Hehe if you're anything like me when contemplating a mod, half as well as you want it to would break a few land speed records
lol yeah- originally i wanted a cam to make most use of the 5500rpm redline/head flow caractaristics, and would have been happy with 150rwkw.
cutting a very long story short, with the cam specs i have and the computer im getting, 160 looks very achievable, maybe even over that with the BBM.
you think i can find a tutorial anywhere to tell me what i need to fit a AU bottom and and BBM to a EB XR6 head, as well as wiring up a V8 computer with MAF sensor?
i think i might need to take a week off work to knock it over...im predicting a *few* teething problems...
fingers are crossed.
anyone want to buy a complete EB XR6 engine with a AU head?
I *think* the EB head ought to bolt onto the AU block, if so that's a good upgrade option for EA/EB owners and would probably be about the same/slightly less cost than porting out their old head
But I'm sure I heard somebody say they used only AU h/gs on their EA because otherwise it kept blowing them...
I'm now hunting around for new shocks and some lowered springs to fix my suspension probs.. and a reconditioned steering rack to fix the loose steering.
What shock/spring setups do you guys have? I'll probably go super-lows in preparation for the bigger rims i'm getting.. but what shocks are good but not too expensive? What costs am I looking at for 4 super-low springs and appropriate shocks?
Is that the thing that looks like a heap of snails on the passanger side of the engine?
And does it flow better than pre ef ones or something?
Will have a look at my car later
No the EF onwards manifolds don't flow as well as EB2/ED manifolds did. However they are better for fuel economy and revability as the runner length can change to suit the rpm.

My next mod is most-likely going to be a full exhaust system (including Pacemaker extractors, full 2.5 inch Redback exhaust, muffler and cat). Pumped up!! Just gotta talk to a mate and it may be booked before Christmas - although that's doubtful.
ive got all the parts together, just got to fit them.
au plenum, lukey headers, 2.5 inch cat back, coolcharge supercharger(500hp powerdyne), tweecer style piggyback..(will take a while to hack the locations.), ssv gt style rear spoiler and side skirts, twin headlights, stage 2 crow cam, clear indicators and tail lights, wood grain consol etc.
Next i want to get an alloy drive shaft, raise rpm limit, ask everyone in australia if the memory is mapped for the 6 cylinder eec-iv yet.
probably end up reburning the eprom once all the mods are in and it runs well.
might change diff ratio.....bigger mags,......no idea , oh got to paint it too
So for me it would be new exhaust, probably 2.25 or 2.5
then dark as legal tinting
I got brand new tires with the car so gonna wait till i **** them to get new (hopefully 18 alloys') and low profile tires:hy:
And xrated, If you have got that exhaust system already... how much did it set you back?
