Re: Who's EA - ED is hard to fill with fuel?

my cars fine if you lift the handle as high as possible after putting it all the way in and turning it slightly (like a quarter rotation) to the left

Re: Who's EA - ED is hard to fill with fuel?

I have had that problem once or twice but I turn the filler nozzle to the side and hold it half way in and it flows in without clicking off.

Re: Who's EA - ED is hard to fill with fuel?

There are several causes for your problem and effects pretty much every ulp car on the road. I worked for Mobil for 5 years and the worst cars were Protons and late model Mazdas.
1. Empty tank causes air to rush out as petrol flows in and trips the overflow sensor in the nozzle of the fuel pump to trip...try a different pump and as suggested pull the nozzle back/left/right to see if it gets any better and try to fill it at half full or more(I realise it may be a pain to do so)
2. Remove the restrictor neck to allow more flow and to decrease the problems of above.
3. Try filling up first thing in the morning as the fuel is cooler and denser so vapour from the fuel tripping the sensor will be a lesser problem

Re: Who's EA - ED is hard to fill with fuel?

For everyone having trouble with filling up the fuel tank on falcons (ie, it takes longer than it should :
99 % of the time this is caused by a little flap inside the filler neck that dislodges from its hinges and sits at the bottom of the neck (which is narrower) restricting fuel flow. You can either change the neck or remove it and tip it upside down until the flap comes out and refit it, though I'm not quite sure of how legal this would be, so I never told you to do this, ok? cheers

Re: Who's EA - ED is hard to fill with fuel?

I can go full squeeze at any servo in my EA. Makes for a splashing great time when the tank is full. Coincidentally the little flap is where it should be.
