Re: Why are we driving EA's?!

i am young, not married, and like my car because of a security issue. I posted the thread of my car accident a few months ago and the front of the car was totalled beyond belief. from the windscreen back, the car was perfect. The engine wen through the dash. If i was in a civic or some other little rice burner my girlfriend would have been dead. They are big which means they are powerful, and they are strong.....

Re: Why are we driving EA's?!

I am at a loss antigravity, the reason for your post is ?????
Quote:
I've been a E-Series member for almost 2 years now, and I've now realised that EA's are ugly, oversized, underpowered, that are now reserved only for the poorest and most underpriviledged people in our society. When the majority of the population of St. Albans and Sunshine (no offence to St. Albans and Sunshine residents, but lets face facts. These areas have the highest rates for unemployment and related government benefits) drives the same car as you, it makes you wonder, "why am I driving one too?"
I have no idea where these suburbs are but just because a particular model of car is popular there & they may not be the brightest lights in the night, does that drag everyone who drives that particular model down .........and as for oversized, ugly and underpowered, have you ever driven a 4cyl car????
I have and thats the reason I like the falcons .....

Everybody has an opinion and they are generally respected in most forums for what they are..... I happen to think the Blue EA is a very nicely turned out vehicle but each to their own.

I dont think negative posts such as yours are worthwhile and frankly are a waste of webspace

My mother taught me that if you dont have anything nice to say dont say it ......I know I have broken that rule but I think you could gain a lot from it

I think the EA shape has aged remarkably well. take your bog stock VN executive/ lexcen what ever they called those things. They only look good once tey have a set of aftermarket rims and a HSV derived kit of some sort.

Re: Why are we driving EA's?!

i like that Blue EA.
and also it certainly sounds like it goes fairly good for a CFI EA

Re: Why are we driving EA's?!

still waiting on that list of GOOD things about the EA. I still think you will be surprised how many their are. I agree with NZ. I wouldn't have joined Eseries if EA's were ruled out, even though they are the very beginning of E series cars....

Re: Why are we driving EA's?!

and also to add...
the thing i like about EA->EL
is that there is so many small things u can do that set it out from the croud.
little things like the indicators, colour coding, etc make it more personal.
these days u buy an BA Falcon XT and what can you do.....? its already got clear indicators, everything is colour coded, it just looks like the rest of the ones on the road.

Re: Why are we driving EA's?!

First of all antigravity I think your a personal attack removed by Jack T ! I think Jack said everything perfectly and I agree with him. The EA Falcon is one of the most understated cars around, and it's for that reason why i'm driving an EA...the look on peoples faces when you beat them at the lights is unforgettable

Re: Why are we driving EA's?!

I dont buy things on impulse. I didnt wake up one day and say "Im going to buy an EA". For months i researched. This is why i bought my EA.

-Im a tall bloke, i simply cant fit in anything less than a large car.
-a 1990 laser (and most 4cyl) will set you back around $5000. my 1990 EA cost $2300.
-with the above saving, fuel consumption is irrelivent.
-The EA is as fast if not faster than most later model falcons(due to body weight)
-They are not the target of theives as much as the same era VN or VL commodore

You've obviously got a bad example of a car you dont want.

Re: Why are we driving EA's?!

Ugly?
Have U looked in the mirror lately? j/k
I dont think its ugly. Its not as ugly as some cars out there, especially cars from the same era!
Oversized?
DEpends what you are looking for a car. If you want a small car buy one. Personally I want space for me, my GF and my friends and family, not to mention carting stuff around! They are no bigger than most other cars in there class be it a Holden or a Merc!
Underpowered?
The 3.9L Mpi at 139kw had 4kw more than the previous 351 V8. The Xr6s gave the Performance V8s of the day a run for there money!
Cheep?
Yes they are, but not everyone bought there car for $2000. There are cheeper cars around from the same era (laser, pulsar, lancers ect) there are also worse cars around that cost more (Commodore, Toyota commmie coppeis, Magnas ect) and im sure there are better cars aswell.

In the end of the day it come down to personal choice and value for money for me. Sure I would have liked a Porche or some fantasy car like that, an xr6t to be more realistic and it i could afford either id have them! Im not saying im poor either, just realistic. When in the market for a new car i figured out what i could afford and simply bought the best car for the cash!
