Re: Why are we driving EA's?!

sorry guys just a bit bored. hehe

Nah seriously, I wouldn't call myself a ricer at all! I hate huge plastic body kits (i can't stand the GT bodykit for example), hate led windscreen washers etc.. I think rims bigger than 17" on any car are quite ugly, pointless and hinder the overall perfomance of a daily driver.

Please, do not take offense to my post, or my opinion, all you guys, especially Jack have been extremely helpful during my ownership of my EA and I greatly appreciate it. I guess I'm just dissillusioned with my EA and the fact that 90% of EA's on the road are pieces of crap...

I agree EA's are good first cars and are definately good in terms of reliability and cheapness.. I guess i'm just trying to find out why people spend so much money and time on EA's.

Please, don't get me wrong, and I don't know how to emphasize this enough, I'm not in ANY WAY, trying to offend or discredit anyone on this site.

Also, I don't think EA's a crap cars, I'd pick one anyday above VN's or any commodores at all (apart from VH's, i have a soft spot for them).

Personally, I've got an EA because I was given one for free, and have slightly modified it because they look better (obviously) modded. I wouldn't go into the trouble like some of you guys have, and was just wondering why you guys luv your EA's so much.

Thanks,
Dave

Re: Why are we driving EA's?!

lol
its the talking point of the night.
its livened everything up. I can see your point but then why are there so many Pre VN's done up.
Why are there so many X series Falcon's done up.
because we're all bored with stock cars, and theres no better feeling then to think that your car is different and that it may give some sort of inspiration to another fellow owner.

an EA is a great place to start, it has awesome potential. They are light, quick with relatively few mods (quikcorty), good looking (bass crazy, jacks etc), spacious and are a comfy car to drive.

Hehe sure have.

As for why people spend money on these car, it really a personal thing. Just like looks. Everone has their own thing, and for the most of the ppl here E-series is their thing. If that makes sense. :S

Could also be looked at the same as why ppl do up old cars.. some of them are crappy and will never be real fast or reliable, and ther mite be a heap of crap one around, but people get them coz they like them.
Same with doing up any car for that matter.

I can see what your saying though (i think) in putting heaps of money into a older car, instead of getting a newer/better one , what ever.

Think u may have put it in the wrong way(?)

Re: Why are we driving EA's?!

I think it's good to have a thread once in a while that is not about manifolds or conversions, but is about the basic reason why we are here. Otherwise it's too easy to forget. Having said that, if you wish to have this thread locked, that can be arranged. Hopefully there will be no more aggressive replies.

Many of us bought the EA as a good first car, and have come to hold onto them and modify them in preference to buying something newer.

Exactly why is an interesting question. It's a combination of factors really: I feel my EA is in most respects competitive with many newer cars (eg in terms of features or performance), and it is so much more special than a stock car. Hell, it's more special than almost any modified Jap car/Commodore because it is both high competitive in terms of looks and performance (or at least will be after the mods are complete), and while VL etc owners strain to come up with original mod ideas, this is a whole car that is original!

The fact that I've inadvertently created this community is the icing on the cake. I guess I stumbled upon a goldmine.

Re: Why are we driving EA's?!

EA's are pretty good cars easy to work on, nice interiors lots of room and pretty qick cars manuel though. can look nice when lowerd. cheaper to modify and stuff. who cares if some "poor" people drive ea's at least they drivin somthin that runs what do u expect them to be drivin 2000 AU falcon. or a lowerd ea with a expensive paint jobs. plus most of them have familys what they gonna all fit in a shitty silvia lowered with all these dials hangin off the a piller with a povo sports xorst runnin a stock motor. at least if a door lets say on there ea gets rooted they can get one from the wreckers. un like if they had a newer car it would be xpensive.

Re: Why are we driving EA's?!

So hang on you live in a Dodgy area and because of that ALL Ea's are dodgy hey?
Most falcons I see are in better nick than VN commies with faded out paint or the jap cars with lots of crap attached.
EA's are great.
Not just for poor people either,
I own a EB series 1 that I've been slowly doing up and I'm on $45k a year.
I could afford a brand new car and I've been there and done that. There is no point. I want a comfy, roomy, good looking car that is quick. I have all that and more in my Falcon and I love it.
