2.25" or 2.5" exhaust - Ford Forums

Just wondering - what would be better for a stock 3.9L engine:

A mandrel bent 2.25" exhaust
-or-
A press bent 2.5" exhaust?

Both with single straight thru muffler.

I reckon the 2.25" would be a bit quiter and have much better gas velocity than the larger one but i'm not sure.. Probably would drone as much either - maybe..

If it was me I would go for mandrel bent 2.5" with 2 mufflers,1 large one in the centre and a small hot dog style on the rear.With exhausts its all about personel preferance.talk to an exhaust place,then get a second opinion.

If I remember correctly, it only turns out about $50 more for a mandrel bent 2.5 then a press bent...
I'd go the 2.5.

Shop around!

If it was me... I'd get a 2.5" Mandrel bent with 1 straight through muffler which the exhaust guy says is defect ready for $250, only to find out it's not loud enough cos I haven't got extractors or a decent cat...

any exhaust place worth thier money will be albe to supply a pre-fab 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust with your choice of 1 or 2 mufflers. I had a mercury system on my eb 4.0, but there are a few different companies that make them. Took me 45mins to bolt in myself.
