I know that the exhausts thing has been really played out but I wanna know something..

What's people's opinion on a 2.5" exhaust with no mufflers (straight through) with one resonator on a 3.9L I6?? Would this sound very Jap and rice like (what I don't want) or droning (also what I don't want) but rather have a nice note to it (what I do want)...

I know extractors would give more power but I would just like a bit better highway legs for not much outlay...

To be honest, in my opinion trying to predict the sound of a car from an exhaust setup is abit of a lottery, it was with my setup.
Sound varies from pipe to pipe and engine.

Best way is if you hear a nice sounding falcon similar model to yours ask the person what setup they have and copy it.

With mine, i just judged what i've heard from other cars and made my own combo based on it.

When my friend had a pontiac transam with a transplanted holden 5L SS engine in it, he had extractors, high flow cats, and then just 2 2.5" pipes running back to either side of the car.

I've never heard anything so f'n loud, but bloody hell it was quick. i dont know what else he did to the engine. but my 302 sounds pathetic to say the least in comparison.. oh well.

you'll have major droning and headache causing noise with that setup i assure you.

Im running cat back 2.5in with 1 muffler (sorry dont know what type or brand) with no resonator. Ive had plenty of positive comments on how it sounds and get alot of "is that a V8 mate?" You'd be hard pressed to tell the difference between it and a V8 at idle (standing at the back of the car) I reckon.....
It doesnt drone at all is reasonably quite inside when cruising with the windows up, but I doubt it would pass a noise limit test?
