Re: 351c XE Falcon and Dual exhaust woes

I love single systems. I bought my XD 14 years ago with twin 2 inch, and pulled it off and fitted 2-1/2 single. Sounded and went heaps better. A lot of twin systems have that flappety sound that resembles a shitheap 253 holden. I have found a happy medium where i have twin 2-1/2 to a stainless muffler just before the diff and a single 3 inch mandrel over the diff and out the back. I think it sounds very crisp and resposive. Fairly loud too but in a good way and only at full noise. Pracy, for what your after a single 2-1/2 would be horn and sound great.
TruBlu351, what horsepower does yours now put out with the new system?

251 rwhp (190 rwkW) & 320 ft/lb tq (423 Nmtq)........... :( Thats with factory stock 2V OC's & valve train and warm hydraulic cam. Sorry for the boring figures. Hopefully early next year it gets a serious head/cam wake up call.

Pitty I have all my new crane valve train gear being used as paper weights on my desk.

Re: 351c XE Falcon and Dual exhaust woes

Been lots of quotes on power figures last few days, so it's perspective building that a stock clevo (specc'd with 4v inlet) produced 160 RWKW, which at the rear wheels would have been more like 130-140.

So they're all good numbers..

Sounds like the old Erson TQ20. Motorsport also call it a A-351 (I think).
Nice street cam should do a 14.0 sec quarter with basic 600 vac and 3.5 LSD.

anyone here with a single 3" with tuned length and they are happy?
I know clevo's and dual are great, unhappy :(
Did u consider a Price Drop Tank or sumpin similar ???
And Yeah !!! Muffler shops prefer single systems cos cheaper to make and avail off the shelf (ESA, Redback brand)

Re: 351c XE Falcon and Dual exhaust woes

Ive got the 4into1s with a single 2.5 sounds nice but I reackon it needs a more free flowing muffler and a larger tail pipe. Like a turbo muffler with a 3" tail. Its still quite loud tho. Iwould like to be able to hear it over a shit box V6 VN with a milo tin :-)

Re: 351c XE Falcon and Dual exhaust woes

Some good mufflers are the stainless steel "Supercats". They are straight thru and give a nice note. About $200 each, but will last for years. The Magnaflows are great but were about $300.............for mufflers, I don't think so! The only better thing is they have "rockwool", some special kind of fibres that don't break down like the fibreglass.

I thought your chariot was humping more than that. Definitely looks and sounds like it does. Wth your 246 cam and alloy heads spinning to 6000, something sounds fishy.

Sure it wasn't 214rwkw? Thats 286rwhp. Was your dyno guy switched on?

No, the F246 was only giving 300 thou lift at the valve. All 16 lobes were wiped and hanging around in my sump/filter, but it still went very good. It wasnt till i put it on the dyno and realized i was missing some ponies somewhere. Since then i rebuilt everything, so are definatly making more now. I'll know after crissy/newyear.
