OK, that makes sense. I thought the 214 was after your recent rebuild - just had me scratching my head. Would be really keen to find out what the numbers are for your new combo.

Re: 351c XE Falcon and Dual exhaust woes

I remember seeing a twin system fitted on a XE years ago, they ran the 2 pipes together and came out the normal place at the rear. it was a tidy job a sounded great.

Re: 351c XE Falcon and Dual exhaust woes

I'd never really even thought about it before but this idea of running a twin and dumping just after the diff seems to be the best of both worlds, are there any legality issues, if not why dont more people do it?

Yep........it sure is the best and simplest fix to all these problems. Catch is that it's illegal. You are required by law to have your exhaust pipes exit at the rear bumper. Otherwise I would have done it in a heartbeat.

Re: 351c XE Falcon and Dual exhaust woes

Pracy,
R those 1 7/8" extractors 4v Pacemakers? I noticed on the Pacemaker site that the 1 7/8" 4 into 1's don't fit some transmission types so it might pay to check that out against what you have.

I recently fitted full twin 2.5" mandrel bent system to my XD. From passenger side it goes across directly above the 9" and both pipes are side by side along the normal route next to the tank and out the drivers side rear. Plenty of room above the diff although my car is only 1" lower than std. If you have a B/W and/or the car is not on the deck it can be easily done. Mine cost $800 from the xtractors back with X pipe and Redback straight thru mufflers. Sounds glorious..

I have pictures which I can email you if you send me an address. Will be a few days though as the computer the pics are stored on is away being repaired.

I'm sure the VH or VK Commodores did that. Single system was like 115kW and twin pipe system was like 123kW. Has anyone got that article that states "Fords prefer a single sysyem"

Re: 351c XE Falcon and Dual exhaust woes

well i am taking her down this arvo and i still havnt decided :(
I am a bit worried about my bottom end power though!,
-too large primary's 1 /78
-should be using tri-ys' not tuned
-dished pistons when flattop would have been betta..
for this reason i think i might have to giv up the dream of duals.. I am worried about the XE being all piss and wind down low :(
I was only really paying the extra for the duals for the note, nothing more. I cant see there being any performance bonus! not on a 5500rpm motor anyways. maybe only loss of power with the tuned 1 7/8's?
So do you guys think a single system will be the better option going on them points?
or maybe 2" dual into muff's before diff, then single 3" ova diff and out...? i like this idea but have never seen or heard this combo! so i am unsure..

Yeah, go the twin muffs to the diff then 3".

If you are likely to be making more power later, I would do a twin 2.5" system now for the front part. Won't cost much more than 2" and you will regret it later unless the motor is staying the way it is
