G'day all, just received a query that someone might know more about. Is the exhaust system on an IRS AU any different to the live axle model? Any info appreciated.

the live axle has the exhaust over the dif housing & the I.R.S. has it running under


the standard six has a basic single system

the AU XR6 VCT has a single system split into twin untill it passes the diff & then it joins into the main pipe prior to the rear muffler but there is enother section that continues on & has a welsh plug fitted into it at the rear of the car

the XR8 sedans all come with IRS & have factory extractors into twin cats & a full twin system with a balance pipe that runs under the IRS & into a single muffler on the rear that is twin in & twin out

Thanks very much Rod, that's just what I was after. The car is a Ghia but the exhaust will be very similar to the XR6 VCT. Cheers!
