Whist i know the herrods system is worth the initial outlay, i have decided to wait till i go for the whole system, maybe next year.
I have removed the front muffler and put in 2 2.5 inch lukey race magnums and also removed the rear can (resonator) and installed 2 custom high flow resonators to make it a true duel system.
The note and rumble i have achieved pleases me very much, but the question i have is surrounding the cats.
Is there any advantage to removing the original cats and installing some higher flowing versions?
Will the note change much? (i am after a deep note rather than loud and raspy)
Can i expect a change in throttle response? ( i have noticed a slight loss of bottom end response in fitting this system but gained some top end)
Output figures are of little concern to me, 260kw is enough, i like my car to sound like a v8 though!!!

He-he...... being that i am not incredibly mechanically able, i presume that is removing the guts and putting a sleeve to attain a straight thru flow?
Could i also assume that this is illegal and would give some wild readings should the epa/rta test my exhaust?

How much could one expect to pay to have the cats sleeved?

dave, I have heard a lot of stories lately about differant exhaust shops trying differant systems and most of them seem to lose the bottom end grunt which is the exact thing you don't want to lose because there is not enough there to start with in the xr8. As I have said before, a pair of hi-flow cats could make a big differance and it seems the Herrod exhaust is the only one that works at this stage.

Although i am pretty sure the stardard system is all one piece.
ie cats are welded to headers
and this could make the job a bit harder whereas aftermarket jobs are usually bolted both ends.
