Re: Canon Exhausts on Falcon's

as has been said - it can be done, i see one here regularly too. From what i can tell, it hangs downa hell of a lot simply cos its too big to actually mount anywhere behind/under the rear bumper, so it does wobble round a bit. This one didnt make too much noise, but i reckon it had a stock exhaust behind it - had hubbies, 4WD suspension, full on boot rattling doof doof music and a cannon on it (it was an EL). Looked (and sounded) terrible!

Re: Canon Exhausts on Falcon's

to be honest id say go for it..
i wanted to do this to my ef but instead i went for a 5" downpipe...
im glad i went this route because it looks awsome poking its 5" head just out of the xr6 kit....

in the future for something different i plan to run another 5 " downpipe on the other side for a dual effect or twin 4" on one side...ive also seena vt gen3 with dual 4.5 inch cannons exiting on an angle man was this thing loud..

i too like some forms of rice so dont be ashamed

:o)

Re: Canon Exhausts on Falcon's

I rekon it looks alright, go for it if you like, its nit rice since it does actually make some difference performance wise. I rekon a twin system with huge tips would look better though.

I was lookin at doing duals but no room on my EA.

Show pics if you do do it. Im curious what it looks like.

Re: Canon Exhausts on Falcon's

Thanks for the replies guys.

Can any comment in regards to the exhaust setup itself, and what I should be looking at? I mean. Is 2.5" mandral bent cat back, finishing off into the canon good enough? What about canon brands? HKS etc? If I get this, and think it's too loud (or if it IS legally too loud) - can I merely just add a resinator to quiet it down? I just want it to sound good and loud. Not like a cheap 4 cylinder lancer which you see all the time with canons.

I definately want to go for it, I reckon twin 4" (5 might be overkill) canons out the back would look pretty decent, interesting to see if I can mod the T3 kit to cut the opening on the rear bar on the left.

Re: Canon Exhausts on Falcon's

if you go the cannon then add another resonator, you'll actually start to lose the benifits of the 2 1/2" pipe.. Every restriction= less power...

If you just want noise go for it, but be wary of the set-up you choose if you are looking for power

Re: Canon Exhausts on Falcon's

I want power, but also noise.

Surely theres numerous different types of canons?

Surely I can get a canon will won't be stupidly loud, not be restrictive, but give the sound I want? I've never been canon shopping so I don't know.

Re: Canon Exhausts on Falcon's

A friend of mine has a Soarer that he put a cannon onto. He didnt want the drone or the loudness that attracts cops. So he put in a restirctor plug kinda thing. When he wants he can just pull-the-plug and release more top-end power.

Says he gets better economy and more low-down torque now with it on. Looks alrite too.

Re: Canon Exhausts on Falcon's

Just got back from Exotic Exhaust in Brisbane, not enough room for a canon :(

After a slight chat, he pretty muhc recommended a 2.5" mandrel bent cat back, straight through with resistator and exhaust, and I chose a 4" stainless steel tip (similar to ends on canon) which slightly bends down. I'm happy, should sound good, help performance marginally and still gives me a different look to every other falcon on the road which has your typical 2x2.5" stainless steel tips :) (no offense to anyone :p)

He said this should be loud, but not too loud, and with the resisator shouldnt drone.

Can any comment on this setup and if it'll be too soft, too loud, too drony etc etc.

Thanks :)

Well, I will say I'm happy your getting a different set up as a conon just isnt right on a Falcon. That said I know what oyu mean about at least getting something different. Sounds like your getting the best of both worlds now. Different tip but a good exhaust system.
Oh, and I agree, I'm not much into the twin 2.5" myself. I used to have twin tips (factory) but replaced it with a single oval as I think it looks (and sounds) far better.
