Cheap option for nice exhaust note?

My insruance wont let me get an exhaust system because its a performance upgrade and im not spending 3x my premium just to have it, anyway to cut a long story short, will fitting a larger exhaust tip give my car a nice sound without getting a full 2.5" system?

Re: Cheap option for nice exhaust note?

in the good old days all we had to do was cut about 10inches off 4inch rectangle downpipe and secure it to the end of the exhaust. No reason why it still wont do the job these days...
Cheers - Eric

Re: Cheap option for nice exhaust note?

in the good old days eh lol

just take out ur resonator and replace it with a piece of piping, im sure there is plenty of exhaust places that will do that for u. fitting a larger exhaust tip does shit all. the term rice fits that very well. specailly if u get like a 4inch one with the blue chrome finish or maybe even pink, or maybe you can get a heart shaped ones...

remove the resonator. if sound still too weak, remove one of the mufflers...ur get the sound from removing one of these

Mute, try a Redback system, they can be quiet or loud when you want it to be.

What results have people had from removing resonators?

I'm thinking of doing it tomorrow or next week some time.

My XR6 has 2 1/2 " system outa extractors single muffler and no cat. sounds awsome down low but when you pass a holden the noise explodes their galss lol.anything over 3000 rpm and it really *blurts. Its booked in on Saturday for replacement cat. Cant stand it any more .Exhaust shop reccomends NO resonator.
