Re: Cleveland Exhaust system

Sorry, don't intend to thread hi-jack, but.....

Where did you blokes with XE's, borg warners still retaining watts link run twin systems?

I'm waiting to find a good way to run twin mandrel 3" in an XE. I'm told its possible, but not easy.

Any ideas?

On the original query from XR GT, it all personal preference, but if you want good noise without droan, go a reasonably big size to your mufflers, then either a res or step down with your tailpipes.

I'd prefer a twin 2 1/4" or 2 1/2" for most of the length of the car with a balance pipe of some kind, into a single big muffler, with single mandrel 2 1/2" or a little larger tailpipe.

Re: Cleveland Exhaust system

Originally I had twin 2 inch into a modified collector which went to a single 2 1/2 inch into a straight through muffler and then straight out the back on my XE.................the whole lot came from Genie Tri Y's.

This went and sounded good. I then ditched the fuel tank and went twin 2 1/4 into twin straight throughs with twin two inch into resies and exiting either side of the valance. The zorst shop reckon they couldn't get adequate clearance for a twin 2 1/4 all the way...........

Anyway, the twin sounds heaps better on my car, it lost a tiny bit of torque down low, but sheeeeesh, did it make up for it up mid to high.....Much better.
Which ever way you go, its imperative that you get a good job done as in the end, this is what counts. A bodgy twin system will never be as good as a well engineered and installed single and vice versa. Exhaust note also depends on muffler type more than system type. It's all about matching the components to ensure that you are complementing your entire set up.

My god I've seen some crap systems in my time........and many of those have been on my own car...........

Very soon, I'll be doing it theRIGHT WAY once and for all.

Re: Cleveland Exhaust system

ESP,

When you pulled the fuel tank out what did you replace it with.
How did you manage to get the exhaust over the diff passenger side, man that would have been a hell of a job.
