Re: Cleveland Exhaust system

Hello Joe.
I have a single 2 1/2" system with a Lukey Turbo muffler and Lukey extractors. Definitely makes a world of difference to the XD with the 351 Cleveland. Twin system, say a twin 2" with Turbo mufflers would sound better.
Cheers
Craig

What's a balance pipe? Is that the pipe that crosses from one side to the other just aft of the main chassis cross-member? What effect do they have? Mine doesn't have one, but I'm not complaining!

Yup, thats it. I can be moved back or foward for different results. It stops the holden V8 disgusting bark/crackle. It also quietens the engine down but 5-10db which keeps police happy. I was able to drive into the bays @ Vicroads today without shaking the windows. Which is a good thing.

I only get crackle when backing off after WOT. Which let's face it, is a rare occurance. And I like the new noise my car makes, so I'll be changing nothing for the time being... that is, until I get pulled over..!

Anyway, enough hi-jacking.

I agree, but I would also add Tri-Y extractors which make a big difference. A single 2-1/2 system will also restict you to about 5000 RPM, so keep that in mind for future upgrades, as you don't want to have to purchase a dual 3 inch system if you are planning on heading past 7000 RPM in the future or considering a 408 stroker.

Re: Cleveland Exhaust system

I've got a XE with a 302 on petrol/gas and I notice that just having it on gas takes away that real crackly sound and makes it sound more like an injected windsor. I run 4into ones with a 3" or maybe 3.5" collector they taper into 2x2 3/4" singles which cross behind the passengers seat, through one cheap shit (soon to be replaced) muffler and it exits through a 2 1/2" tailpipe. It sounds realy nice, its deep not too loud at Idle and wakes up alot under revs. Still I prefer the sound of a twin tho.

i have a twin 2 1/2 inch system with Tri-Y extractors and straight through Lukey mufflers and cross pipe,
sounds nice to me, nice and throaty, no annoying drone either, so its all good.

Re: Cleveland Exhaust system

Thanks for the replies to my post.

I almost booked it in for a single 2.5inch exhaust system last week.

I will definetly go the twin 2.

Question?
Will a twin 2inch pipe fit between the fuel tank and spare wheel on the underside of the car past the diff??

Cheers
Joe

Re: Cleveland Exhaust system

XD-E dual exhaust setups in relation to exit points and how they have avoided the plastic fuel tank issue.

Could I get some feedback on the various setups people have used....
