Well after returning home from Uni after a while i was finally able to hop back into the drivers seat of my stepdad's N/A BA XR6 and what can i say, the exhaust note is TERRIFIC!!
Its got about 9,300 k's on the board and all i can say is the difference from last time i drove it (probably when it had around 5 thousand) is so obvious i couldn't help but have a permanent grin on my face. :)
Can't stop thinking about how good the 8 would sound after being run in, because for a standard xr6, this sounds very nice indeed.
My BA XR6 NA now has 10,000kms - cant say i noticed the exhaust sound different though until i fitted the Herrods system...
I got the Herrods cat-back fitted by Thompson Ford at Parramatta (thus i keep my warranty), and what can i say - the note is to die for - its not loud and drony, rather very deep and throaty - for all the world the car sounds like a V8, you couldnt pick it except for the XR6 badges of course.
to all XR6 owners - IMO this is a very worthwhile mod.

Any photos?
What does the tip look like?
I would love to hear more discriptive words about the new note!!!
When we were in Tassie on a holiday driving my Brother's BA XR6 around I noticed the exhaust was really nice. When I was guiding him into a tight parking space at night, every time he touched the accelerator the exhaust purred....It sounded great. This was about 7000kms

Mine really started to sound better at around 15,000km's.
BUT
It sounds heaps better now I got a cat-back system, 2 1/2", Lukey Ultra-Flo and Hot Dog Resonator.
And for $350 it was well worth it

system was $550 fitted (mild steel) at Thompson Ford in Parramatta - The sound is AWESOME. in first and second gears the car sounds like a modified XR8. Take your foot off the accelerator and....QUIET...no droning! under hard acceleration the note is fantastic - very deep and throaty - not tinny - and at highway speed the noise is not intrusive.
i will post pics and sounds by next weekend (sorry real busy).
the mild system has a stainless oval tip (a little larger than factory), but IMO not as nice as the factory one (it looks a little cheap - but i suppose for about $40 your local exhaust shop could put any tip you wanted on). The stainless system finishes in twin stainless round tips (not oval) - it looks much better but not worth an extra $450 if u ask me.
hope this helps,
Robbo.

I have a blueprint BA XR6, that has just had a full herrod stianless system 2.5" put on it, $2250 and not only does it sound better (deeper) it also goes better, i've put in the ss cold air induction system, with an K&n filter. These few mods have made a hell of differance
I two have had the Herrods Catback system in mild steel fitted to my N/A XR6 and totaly agree with XRSIK. The note is to die for would swear it's a V8 . Fully recomend it to anyone. Cost me abit more $750 from Gregorys Ford in Canberra , but well worth the money.
