eb xr8 exhaust

I was wondering how i can get my eb xr8 to sound better. Are extractors a must as im short for cash, are the factory extractors good enough. any suggestions? cheers

Re: eb xr8 exhaust

cheapest way to make it sound bananas, get a catback system, 3" should be relativly cheap. lukey make a system for round the $500-$600 i think. Others can be whipped up too.. You can get twin 2 1/2's for anywhere upto $1000 dependant on brands and so on.. stainless steel will be much more too btw... Extractors will make little difference to sound, but a hell of a lot to power and torque. But if your sound is what you want first off.. get a catback system. Headers when you got the cash.

Re: eb xr8 exhaust

Extractors will make a slight difference to sound- reported to give a much "sharper" note. After hearing an EL XR6 with extractors and exhaust compared to my mates fairmont with just cat back, I can say that is true. Still, the biggest differnce will come from a cat back.
Just be careful with sizes though- 3" may sound fantastic, but it will kill bottom end torque a little. (No, it's not about back pressure, it's about gas velocity.) Generally the bigger diameter, the deeper the note... makes me wonder what my twin 1 3/4" system will sound like without 2 of the 4 mufflers...
