EL XR6 Exhaust

I recently bought an EL XR6 that runs sweet as but fuel economy is lacking. Put new plugs in but still the same. Mechanic did the smoke test where they pump smoke into the inlet looking for cracked inlet manifold gaskets etc but no leaks found. Car has only done 88000klms so its not likely a collasped cat. Exhaust was replaced from cat back by Midas before I bought it and I'm wondering if this is choking it. The car feels doughy off the line.
I noticed that XR6 had factory low back pressure exhaust system.

Does anyone know what diameter pipe the factory system was?
The cop said "Do you know why I pulled you over". I said " Well, that all depends on how long you have been following me!"

Re: EL XR6 Exhaust

the factory cat will flow just fine with mods so that the lips on either side are flared to 2.5inch inlet and outlet. I think, providing its not fubar'd
