I own a AU XR8 s1 sedan and I'm looking at replacing the factory system.I've got quotes for Pacemaker (mild steel/coating) for $460.00, HM stainless with cats $990.00 and HM stainless without cats $620.00. I'd also like any info/prices on SVO and HERROD systems. The motor is standard (for now) except for K&N panel filter. I've also noticed most aftermarket systems fitted are single systems, one muffy and ressy. Why so? I always thought a "V8" worked best with a twin system right through, just like I'v got from factory! I'm not after a loud system, just what's best for a future 290- 300kws and still ok for a standard motor. Just 4 fun, I pulled off the exhaust after the 2 mufflers (the bit that goes over the diff with the resi) and drove around for 2 weeks. The 'rumble' was very healthy and not as loud as I expected it to be and very bearerble at all speeds and rpms and no annoying sweet spot/droning (It's manual). Top end improved noticebly. Thanks for your time guys. The end, PHEW!
I heard a good saying today that seems appropriate:
Opinions are like arseh#les, everyone has one and they all stink!!!
We would normally fit a 3" single if you want a deep racecar growl, or if you are after the dual look and sound, only go a 2.25" with merge pipe as the dual 2.5" is too big on a stock windsor. You will lose your torque (pulling power).
I am sure others have different opinions, but I speak from experience.
I had my exhaust changed to a dual 2.25 and haven't looked back since - dropped my fuel consumption down for 16.8litres/100km to 15.4 litres/100km. Power also increased and the sound is lumpy but not intrusive on the inside
I want to know where you were quoted $460 for the pacemakers!Be careful with this price - I know this sounds stupid - but make sure it is for both sides, not per side. I was quoted $900-$960 for both sides (apparently pacemaker have their prices on a per-side basis).
If it's for both sides, let me know where so I can stop saving for the price I was quoted!

I think they may have quoted for a 6 cyl set instead of the V8
I got the 1 5/8" try-y pacemakers for my EF V8 for $447 from pavtek in melbourne. Pretty sure i got both sides too! I wouldn't expect AU ones to be too much more expensive..
Thunder, checked out surefloexhust.com. Very informative. Saw a pic of a black s1 XR8 on a hoist in eye candy with a duel system fitted, NICE!. Do you work there? 'cause I noticed a Berlina S/Wagon in the background of one of the pics. If you got any info on this cars system and a price, would be great. Thankz.
PS: I got the quotes for the extractors from Online Performance Autos ( www.onautos.com.au )

The quote was for supply only. I thought it was a bit cheap for a V8 set including fitting.
The system was a dual 2-1/2" into 3" single rear, but for a stock car dual 2-1/4" will pick up better.
I own Sureflo Exhaust and my son built the website for me when he was 15. Over the last 2 years it has evolved quite a bit.
