Its a definate No-No, while it may sound awesome, you'll pe pulled up by the first police car you come across.
It would probably be a better Idea to go down to the local exhaust place, and tell them what you want, and see what they suggest.
yeah, there is no way i would do that! im sorta the same, id like mine to be a little louder but there's other things i wanna get right first.
perhaps a straight thru muffler or something might work. its a bit difficult to tell without hearing the possible combinations.
I dunno if EA would be the same as AU, but my AU has no mufflers and it's not loud at all. You do notice it when you boot it, but nothing to get you pulled up by the cops.. unless they catch you speeding off.
Theres gotta be other ways of making it louder, theres heaps of loud cars going around but they have mufflers. Also if you get caught by the EPA the test cost $2000 so i wouldnt exactly want to have to do one of those , on a side note i know a guy that had a worked 5litre VH and he had a switch in the cabin which when put on it opened a hole in the exhaust before the mufflers and blocked the rest, thus having the effect of a stright through exhuast with no muffler, that however made the car wayyyyy too loud and you couldnt even hear the person next to you shouting, sounded great though
$2k for the test? i dont think so! You can get the test done at any exhaust place, they certify the car meets the standards and away you go. $2k might be the fine or something, i dont know, but its definately not that much for the test!
what type of muffler is it? Straight thru?
if you really wanna go louder and make the noise even worse then replace the muffler with a resonator
(good job = 2 flanges either side of the resonator so if you get dicked you can change it back easier - but you will still fail the test)
The test costs like 27bucks not 2000. i got done last year and made up a tin blank flange plate with holes in it --- Just passed.
um i got a 2.5 inch one straight through muffler. ya i know it will be loud but cmon how many cars u see goin round that are fuken loud. my frends got a hz monaro with a 5.7litre in it and a twin 2.5 inch straight through no mufflers or bends and it is only just loud enough for me so a 2.5 inch pipe with no mufflers on my ea would just do the job wouldnt u think?
