I keep getting heaps of conflicting stories.. can someone just tell me straight up?

What would be the best exhaust to get on my 89 LTD.. by "best" i mean nicest sounding (to accentuate the mad growl fords give at full throttle down the freeway), and to help give some kinda performance mods (mated with some extractors)

Also preferably some costs and places I could go to.

I've heard the car with no exhaust at all on it.. and there's gotta be a way to at least make it sound CLOSE to that good!

There are hundreds of threads about this same thing, maybe do a search, and you should find something. The exhaust is pretty much the same as an EA, just the catback pipe is a little different because of the length, but probably the same as an EA wagon.

you dont wanna go any larger than 2.5 inch as you start to loose power
my EA wagon has a 2.5 inch system with a redback muffler and a hotdog, sounds bloody nice IMO. next on the list for it is extractors and a highflow cat, but they can wait for a while, ill set up the fairlane first

Yer sorry realised i shoulda searched first.. have searched now and found most of my answer, but still got one thing..

Everyone talks about performance etc.. which is all fine and dandy, but my car aint no performance car What's the best -sounding- exhaust? Someone said go for Walker brand?

Its not about brands.

Its about the type of muffler(s) used and the quality of the materials.
