Exhaust and lowering quotes (and what the fork are stack springs)
Hey. I have decided with the amount of money I have poured into the EA of late, I should really spend some $$ on things other than just fixing it.
I was quoted $260 for the supply and fit of a 2 1/2 inch cat back sports system. Does this sound about right?
I have also been getting some quotes on lowering. I want to go super low (so it looks like an EA should.)
I was quoted $860 - $870 by the places I have been to, and this includes new springs, new shocks and front struts. Plus a wheel alignment and fitting.
However pedders told me to use something they called 'stack springs' as this would mean I wouldn't need new shocks. They were part numbers 6406 and 6403. They quoted me $260 for the 4 shockies, $187 for fitting and $55 for wheel alignment. Bringing their total to $502.00 which is a whole bunch cheaper than the other alternative.
What is the deal with these springs that makes them not require short stroke shocks? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Re: Exhaust and lowering quotes (and what the fork are stack springs)
yeah i run them in the ea but they are custom wound ones.. but the principal is the same.
when you run a stacker coil.
the top 3 coils are very very very softly sprung so that when the cars weight is put on them they compress and touch each other. the rest of the coil is the usual lowered sring rate.
this is so when you jack the car up the three top coils expand and still trap the spring in there holder and wont fall out. thus you can have a very low car and not have to worry about the springs falling out.
cheers.joe.

The exhaust systems sounds pretty pricey for a cat back system, I paid $180 for a 2.5" single straight through muffler system on my dads wagon, shop around a bit more.

Thanks for the tip on the exhaust fella's. I have been quoted $290 and $260 so far. I will be down in Birs for a couple of days next week, might have a look at this lee's exhaust place. :-)

Some people dont put camber kits in and get away with it.
Lows dont give to much problem.
But if i was going super lows i would whack one in.
And yeah id hope it included it for that price.
