Exhaust for my 5.0L 1996 Fairlane - Ford Forums

Hey guys, havent posted in a loooooong time but planning to become more active.

Just bought a nice looking navy blue V8 1996 Fairlane and ive booked it in to get some exhaust work done.
Getting a 2.5" redback exhaust system, pacemaker extractors and a cold air intake. I was quoted $1600 for the whole lot, and i was wondering if you think im paying too much.
I dont know much about exhausts, but i know this guy does a good job cause hes worked on another car i had and it came out great, and $1600 sounded about what i expected.

Call around a few other places and get some more anonymous quotes, personally i think its a little steep but probably not by a hell of a lot.
If you know he does a great job then a couple of hundred dollars is probably worth the peace of mind!

Is the exhaust mild steel or stainless?

$1600 sounds a little pricey.

I had a mild steel system put in (custom job) which cost me $1150 from memory. As for the "cold air intake", what does this comprise of? Your standard heads and intake manifold will negate any decent gains to be had from a custom cold air intake.

Simply go to Ford and get an ELGT intake snorkel for ~$40, that'll do regarding your intake mate.
