Exhaust for Series 3 TE50 - Ford Forums

People keep telling me to replace the extractors and system on my TE50 for considerable performance gains.

Can anyone tell me the type of extractors Tickford put on the Series 3 TE50's? It doesn't make sense to me that Ford spent so much money dragging extra kw's and torque from this windsor and finished it off by putting an ordinary extractor/exhaust combo? Any thoughts?

Pretty sure (like 99%) that they are HM Headers. While they flow fairly well, a set of pacemakers or Herrods (Difillipo engineering) headers are supposed to be better (they have bigger primaries).

Thanks Falkeen, that thread was interesting. I still find it hard to accept that Ford would spend mega bucks extracting the necessary horses from our beloved windsor, and bypass 20 extra kw by skimping on the exhaust???

True, You could say the same for any car but there are other factors like fuel economy, noise, cost. These are all taken into account.

Also look at has anyone chiped a T3 and is it worth it ? Very interesting reading..
