On Sunday a few mates and I got together to socialise with a few drinks... As the night got on, I was showing one of my mate's my ED. I can't remember what we were actually talking about, but the exhaust was mentioned and I told him my plans: 2.5" exhaust straight-through coming off some Pacemaker extractors. I told him I would spend around $800-1000 depending on what I was getting. Anyway, he couldn't believe how much I was prepared to pay and then said he knew someone who works at Mr. Muffler.
Then he went on to say his friend that works at Mr. Muffler has a Magna with an exhaust on either side! Naturally I thought it was hilarious and I would get that done to mine (as a joke, of course!).
"I could get that done for like $250!" Remembering that my friend knows basically jack-shit about cars and he was pretty pissed at this stage! And I'm like, "yeah, whatever!! If you could get it done for less than $450 I'd give you $200 cash myself!" So we made a bet: if he could get his mechanic mate to put together a system fitted for $450 or less then I would hand my friend $200 cash. That was with the parts that I choose... Now for some reason I was very cocky. Wouldn't I be lucky to get parts for that amount $$$?
So we spoke yesterday (Monday) and it turns out that he couldn't get it that cheap. But for $650 I could get the following: Pacemaker extractors, Redback exhaust (any size) mandrel bent, and basically any tip. Something like that anyway. Oh! And that included, TWO exhausts!! LMAO! Anyway, can someone give me a list of what I would need to get for a decent system (muffler/resonator etc etc)?
I'm a little unsure of how it all works and stuff, so a run down of all the parts when fitting a full system would help me :)
Your help would be appreciated as I am hoping to get this done after my trip to QLD. Can't wait!
Cheers.

Extractors, depending on how loud you want it you can choose between straight thru muffler or baffled (i had a baffled on my EA and it was nice and loud, however it resonated like a biatch) and then you have to think about resonators.
If it were mine over again, I would go with a straight thru muffler and a hotdog up the back (should get rid of the resonating without losing the note)
The system i run is pacemakers into an offset straight through muffler 2.5 mandrell piping and a hotdog, only get a hot dog any other resonator and it is to quiet IMHO. Sounds awesome and flows very well.

Re: Exhaust system - good price?
droped half a second over the quater with the following..
pacemakers (non competition), 6.0lt hi-fkow cat, 2.5 inch manrell bent red back exhaust, with single straight thru off set muffler (redback), and a 3inch dump tip out back.
trust me the part that give the most power is the chrome dump tip, cos its fully sik, get 10 of these, you'll have 1000 rice-o-watts between 2000 and 9000rpm
lol, sorry coulnt help myself.
cheers.joe.

I reckon it is XRated. Normally you would be charged closer to $800-900 for a setup like that, possibly more! If I were in your position, I wouldnt waste anytime on the forums discussing it. Id be dropping off the car pronto!!!
Shiiiiiit!!! Okay okay! I am gonna confirm all this coz I don't want my leg to be pulled on this occasion!
So Pacemaker extractors, mandrel bent 2.5" Redback exhaust, new cat (how much for a Gen III one?), straight through muffler and tip! Am I missing anything?
Cheers for that :)
