Hi all.

My mid muffler has a hole in it. It needs replacing.

What are my options, and what am i looking at cost wise?

As far as i can see, the rest of the exhaust is in reasonable (not good, but reasonable) condition.

Two questions - what $$ am i looking at for a replacement muffler (front only), or, if i go down the perfomance route, what are my options for a new exhaust? i.e. new mid muffler, new 2.5" pipe, no rear muffler, or new rear and mid and a pipe, blah blah.

I know stuff all about what is required in a new exhaust system (i.e. i know what a cat-back system is, but does it require my existing mufflers etc), so any help/general explanations on what i can and can't do, and what i need to keep etc would be of great assistance.

Sorry to be such a n00b on this (yes, have done all the searches), but i need a basic overview of what does what, what i can replace, and what would suit.

Depends on ya budget. A new exhaust system would be ideal but if cash is tight, a replacement muffler until cash improves may be a better way to go.

Mufflers can vary in price from $40-$250 depending on type and brand and material.

Stick with a known brand name like Lukey, Redback, Marathon, Mercury. You can expect to pay about $60 for a straight thru, mild steel type muffler which should include fitting. A good way to go to get you by until you can afford a brand new full system.

Full systems can range from $250-$1500 cat back only.

Ring around a get quotes for both and decide from there.

Thanks blueoval! Didn't realise a mid muffler would be so cheap...

Will look into it, and see how much i'll be up for for a new muffler, or a reasonable cat back system...

Yeah youl probably manage to get "a real good supercat" for that price ($40) - Fitted

Search around there are huge price variatons between shops
