I have a hole in my exhaust pipe, which I was told needs replacing. I guess when you have to put the windows up when your sitting at the lights then yes there may be a little problem.

The mechanic that I spoke to told me I had two options, the first being to get the normal everyday factory fitted one that has two mufflers, or to get another that has only one muffler which would be the cheaper of the two and I'd get a bit more sound. A bit more sound never hurt anyone.

Does anyone have any opinions on which one they would get or which one they think I should get? Apart from the slight increase in noise does anyone know any pros and cons of either of the two?

just go and get a single hi flow muffler fitted... a little more noise and a bonus package of a tad more power

Id use this as a excuse to get a 2.5" put on (unless insurance wont allow). Should cost bit over $200.

With the 2 your talking about, there wouldnt really be much difference other than the noise. There might be a slight increase in power, but u wouldnt feel it. Id go the louder one (if it sounds good)

I got extractors, 2.5" system one muffler and a resonator and mine drones like all buggery, so I am getting another muffler put in, but I'm not a person who likes ultra noisy, while some people think it sounds good and I shouldn't toubh it.
So its upto you whether you like that much noise or not.

I doubt that the perfromance would be much different between one muffler and two.

Believe it or not more noise doesn't mean more power!!

Usually a 'Sports' system will be the best of both worlds. Ask around. I use one particular shop because he will not fill ya head with BS.

I got mandrel bent from cat back exhaust with a hot dog followed by a turbo mufler (lukey) followed by a resonator right before the exit in my EF Futura, its not droning at all and it does have a deep growl, I love it .. all up was $240

I'm not really worried about the noise or power, I was thinking along the lines of fuel economy, although I wouldn't want a drop in power!

Ford quoted me $220- for the double muffler (standard in EB's).
The mechanic quoted me $160- plus labour for the single muffler.

I don't want to replace the whole exhaust system because the cops already watch the car for some reason...

I guess I could take it to a couple of exhaust places and get some quotes on both, now can anyone recommend a decent exhaust place in Melbourne?
