Does anyone know if side exiting exhausts (a la V8 supercars) could be made up for an AU XR8 ute?
im not sure if it would clear the leaf springs... But damm it woulf look good!!!
As far as I know, any exhaust must exit behind the rearmost opening to the cabin. For a ute, provided this is behind the doors it should be OK. Seems to work OK for the AC Cobra replicas! However, get in contact with the RTA up there to be sure!
There's an XF Ute getting around here that has a large pipe on both sides.
They run on the outside of the car with the opening just before the rear wheels.
I havent been able to get a good look at it, so I don't know if they are fake or not.
the law states that the exhaust must exit at least 200mm behind the most rearward opening window & that the tailpipe must extendbeyond the last permanent body seal or perimeter of the vehicle body. (Out of this months Street Machine mag)
i got laker pipes on my f150, they are legal because the are under the sills, not hanging out the sides, are tilted down 15 degrees, are pointed slightly back, not at 90 degrees to the body, and are muffled
